Back from the warp.. AND VERY PISSED OFF!!

I've been away from the Skullthrone far too long already and it was all thanks to the 6th Ed. Reading, playtesting, making list, playtest again, back to reading and then playtesting other armies. These things has been keeping me away from the painting table. That, followed by holy Ramadhan and Aidilfitri further the delay for another month.

But now I'm back and to pay back for all the time lost, I've been doing 3 vehicles at the same time since last week.

CHAOS LAND RAIDER

The first one is the World Eaters Land Raider that I assembled some couple months back. The 6th Ed. hurt my Rhino-based WE so badly now I need a LR to help ease the pain. Here is how the thing look right now. The Red colour was Tamiya Italian Red over a Matt Black primer. I think I like the colour enough so the next step is to go into detail and adding some spiky bits here and there.

NECRON ANNIHILATION BARGE

I bought this thing to be a Catacomb Command Barge since it was so cool in 5th. But then again, an Annihilation Barge is also a cool unit to have on table with its twin-linked Tesla Destructor. So I magnetised the cannon and the Command Console so I can change between them whenever I want. As for colour scheme, it was nothing grand like the Necron infantries. Just Tamiya Gunmetal over Matt Black primer followed by Light Gunmetal. It was later weathered with Dark Earth and Orange Rust weathering powder. All I need to do left is finish up the crews, paint all the green glowy bulbs and then it'll be good for gaming.

NECRON TRIARCH STALKER

The Triarch Stalker is one fine looking model. The only problem with this thing is the pointcost and the fact that it only has one weapon to play with. BUt I would still take it to gaming just for fun. It follows the same colour scheme as the Barge.

WHAT'S WITH THE SCENE OVER HERE?!

Me and my brother Dean went to hobby with 1750 points list ready to spent the evening with. But people over here are getting so tourney oriented they no longer play 1750 points game. Everyone has been doing 1500 points since the next tourney (in November) will be set at that point. Come on lah Malaysians!! Why so serious?!? I even saw one guy playing Ork-IG Ally WAAC netlist on Friday. You know, the one with Nobz Bikers troops, and 5-6 Flyers.

What the hell.. I wish we were several years back in GC when Nik Kamal was around. Back then we used to play funky builds just for pure fun, trying out some stupid unit doing stupid things and laugh out loud. Nowadays it is all about optimising a list. Bring casual list and you are just asking to be bullied.

MERDEKA!!

Just a couple days back, we celebrate our  MERDEKA!!. I love my country, I love Malaysia, I love my Jalur Gemilang. Our Jalur Gemilang was there right in front of my gate, standing straight against the wind since the 1st of August. I'm very proud of it.

So when the news shows some stupid fellas in yellow shirts holding some red-white flag to replace Jalur Gemilang, my blood boils. It felt like someone just spat over my face. If I ever saw that flag raised anywhere right in front of my eyes, I will take it down and if I have a lighter, burn it right there. If you guys really are Malaysians, I would expect you guys to do the same.

We wargamers knows and understand just how important a flag/banner/standard is. It is our honour. Spitting on it is like spitting on our honour. Our dignity. It isn't funny and very much unacceptable.

Barua betul!!

woot? Rhino already not viable in 6ED? I stock up like 3 rhinos... LOL (facepalm)

Not viable for close combat oriented aunits since you can't assault in the same turn you disembark. Especially not for my Berserkers.

It is still good for normal CSM with Rapid Fire weapons. CSM with double plasma + 1 combiplasma is a good unit to ride in Rhino.

Out of curiosity who's running a 40K tournament in November? I hadn't heard about that.

I didn't realize you longer for casual gaming so much. I (incorrectly it seems) assumed you were one of the biggest proponents of tournament gaming in the area, esp. as you even track your wins/losses/ties on your blog. Given we only see you at Legio for tournaments, I thought that was your primary interest.

You should pop by hobby nights on occasion- it's almost always either casual gaming or even a campaign. Ghemehaal was a blast, and was definitely NOT tournament type play. You'd be more than welcome dude.

Cheers, and don't forget to let me know which tournament you're referring to. I'll put it up on the Legio calendar so folks know about it.

Ya, I noticed the 1500 pts thing too. I personally prefer my 40k games at 1750. And with 6th ed, I find 1750 more fun actually. It's been too long since we had a game. Looking forward to the next one.

Regarding the 'non-casual gamers', since Rhino aren't viable in 6th Edition and the CCB was so cool in 5th Edition, it is not their fault.

They have made their choice; those players want to practice for the upcoming tournament while trying to adapt to 6th edition rules in the same time.

Time constraint is the most common factor among all local wargamers; you should know best. Cheer up dude.

I forsee I will be a casual gamer myself (if I ever get there). Hope that doesn't mean a noob like me will end up playing with himself ... wait that didn't come out right ... i meant pitting the two armies I am building at each other.

@Deathkorps : It was supposed to be the Legio Disember tourney. I mistook it with the Iron Painter that was held in Nov.

I am a competitive guy in nature. But just how many tournaments do we have a year? Out of whatever that number is, I'll be attending 2 at most. Other than those 2 days, I prefer casual play.

Summore I am very stritch with rules when playing that's why many people tends to see me as competitive. Most people think out of tourney, they can move/shoot extra inches or ignore certain rules. Seriously, the rules were made for casual gaming, why adhere to it only during tourneys? Forgetfullness is acceptable of course. Everybody makes mistakes.

@Spunky : I'll try drop by, but Friday is very difficult for me due to commitments.

@Vuel : Sorry bro, but IMO, time constraint was a bull of an excuse for playing 1500. If Legio set the limit at 1750, they'll play 1750 for sure.

@4EM : I am addicted to gaming and rolling dices. So for me, pitting my armies against each others is very fun and you can play whatever build you want. Most importantly, it's the fastest way to learn new rules and refreshen what you already knew.

Well i went to alvin the pass 2 weekend.. everyone was playing 1500.. but i was still playing 1750 with my same old list. To me it doesnt matter how many point you play as long you have fun playing. But i dont see why every one is rushing to practice playing 1.5k for.. its only 250 diff. If the players main focus is to finish faster then, they should be practicing with a larger force not smaller. With a larger force and with limited time.. it make you think faster thus improving your game time.. playing smaller forces only make you go slower. Ok bro ko datang sunday ni kite main 1750.
